Usually about 40cm tall but can be half or twice this. Flowers rich yellow, each lobe with a central dark stripe, in umbels to 10cm in diameter. California in open pine woods on sandy soils. White to cream and purple variants are known. In commerce, T. ixioides is better known as Brodiaea lutea.
