Stems 9-30cm tall. Leaves all linear or filiform, less than 2mm wide, most of them in a basal tuft. Rocky hills and slopes. Distinctive miniature tufts of grassy leaves. Flowers have peculiar, crystalline texture. P.l. subsp. laricifolius has flowers pink to purple. Wyoming only. P.l. subsp. exilifolius has white flowers. Wyoming and Colorado.
