This reticulata species is similar to I. histrio and of a similar size with the four-angled leaves often taller than the flowers. Each bloom is white or clear to slate-blue with a cream crest on the falls, late autumn to mid winter. Israel, Jordan and perhaps Syria, on rocky exposed hillsides, sometimes amongst low scrub. At one time represented almost entirely in cultivation by the white form, but the clear blue one is worth seeking. Alpine house or bulb frame if it is to persist and bloom regularly.
