Botanical Description

Variable in height, usually 30-45cm but sometimes less, at least in the wild. Leaves l-3cm in width, prominently ribbed, slightly falcate. Flowers 5-7cm in diameter, the standards pale yellow, the falls even paler, boldly veined violet to reddish-brown, early summer. Central and eastern Europe, in open stony areas and amongst scrub and light woodland.
