Botanical Description

Height 20-50cm. Stem erect, usually branched with stem bulbils. Flowers one to three, broadly campanulate, white to lavender, the petals with a central reddish blotch surrounded by yellow and streaked with reddish purple, with short hairs above the glands which are not depressed, transversely doubly lunate and extremely hairy. Cahfornia, in Sierra Nevada and the Coast Ranges, in heavy clay soils. Another widely grown Mariposa.
