Height 5-30cm. Basal leaf 10-30cm long, 2-10mm wide. Stem erect or flexuous. Flowers one to five, creamy-white, sometimes tinged with lavender with a narrow, purple band above the glands and similar coloured spots on the sepals. Petals fringed and bearded with long hairs above the gland which is transversely elongated, depressed, with a fringed membrane below and a narrow, unfringed membrane above, covered with long hairs. South Washington and Oregon in volcanic soil.
