The Easter Daisy; this is closely allied to T. hookeri. It has tufts or mats of rosettes of leaves up to 5cm long, narrow, parallel-sided. The flowerheads are generally almost sessile among, or just above, the leaves. The bracts are glabrous or slightly hairy. The rays 20 to 40, 3-6mm long, white or purple-flushed. Texas and Arizona to Canada at moderate altitudes. This is one of the best species for the alpine house. It can survive for several years to bear 10 or 12 large flowers just above its leaves.
