A Gray. Leafy stems up to 30cm, resembling T. grandiflora, but with bluish or purplish flowers. The bracts have rigid pointed tips and the pappus usually has both 2 to 4 bristles and sessile minute scales. South Colorado. This is one of the tallest species and one of the easiest for the rock garden, but it is generally short-lived and must be raised regularly from seed.
