Compact rosettes of spathulate leaves, with the blades shorter than the stalks, woody. Flowerheads sessile among the leaves. Bracts lanceolate, narrow, tapering at the tip. Rays 12 to 100, l-2cm long, white, pink or pale lavender. Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, at high altitudes.
