Botanical Description

Forms a low hummock of small, crowded, dark green rosettes. Leaves 3-4mm long, oblong and not encrusted. Flowering stems 5-10mm tall bearing solitary, deep violet flowers, petals wavy on the margins and 8-11mm long. West Pakistan, Kashmir and India between 2800 and 4500m. Likes acid, moist, semi-shady conditions. Is one of the parents of some of the best Porophyllum hybrids.
