More or less mat-forming, with slender semi-woody stems, 30-60cm tall. Leaves orbicular to oblong-ovate, cordate, irregularly toothed, 2.5-5.5cm long. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, 1.2-2.4cm in diameter, white to cream, summer. Fruits 1.3-2cm wide, almost globose, composed of many small, orange or red drupelets. Southern tip of South America, in a range of habitats from wide open to forest clearings, usually where the soil is moist.
