Rootstock clusters of ovoid, hairy, underground tubers. Stems 5-10cm high, villous. Leaf blades reniform to obovate, 1.5-3.5cm across, crenate, almost glabrous. Flowers to 8mm long with a yellow band in the throat, in small cymes, spring. Washington State to California, in coastal scrub and moist places on seaward cliffs and steep slopes. Best in the alpine house.
