A small relative of P.hirsuta. Leaves typically narrower and oblanceolate 1.5-7cm long by 5-10mm wide, dark olive-green with a reddish edge, toothed towards the apex, fleshy in texture and somewhat sticky with multicellular glandular hairs. Flowers with notched petal lobes, l-2cm across, reddish-pink to lilac, usually with a broad white stellate eye, in umbels of one to eight on stems to 9cm high. Area immediately north-west of Lake Garda, Italy, as far as the Stelvio Pass, Swiss frontier. Also in two isolated sites in the Austrian Alps. Acidic rocky alpine pastures at 1500-3000m., very local and threatened.
