Rhizomes slender, woody and far-creeping. Leaves up to 20cm long, the blades more than half of this, oblong-ovate, pinnatifid, composed of thirteen to twenty-five narrowly oblong blunt-tipped pinnae, grey-green beneath. Sori reddish-brown, round, mainly near the tips of the pinnae. U.S.A., mainly in the south, and tropical American mountains as both epiphyte and on mossy rocks. During dry spells the leaves roll up and appear dead, but resurrect when the rains come.
