Height 15-60cm from a woody caudex. Leaves glabrous with eleven to seventeen, widely spread lanceolate leaflets. Flowers in small clusters at the tips of the long arching branches. Corolla blue with a pale greenish centre, to 1.5cm long. South-eastern U.S.A. north to New York in moist woods.
