Flowers numerous, in loose terminal and axillary cymes, purplish to white, 6- 10mm long by 8-18mm wide, stamens not protruding. Mountains of western North America, on sandy or rocky slopes. Rather lush but a good filler for the rock garden. Sow seeds in situ in spring.
