Rhizomatous perennial up to 20cm tall, glandular or glandular-hairy. Leaves mostly basal, lanceolate, 4-20cm long, lyrate to deeply spine-toothed or lacerate, often strongly waved. Flowerheads bell-shaped, solitary or in twos to fours, up to 3.5cm long and somewhat wider, white to pale blue, light rose-violet or creamy coffee, with rays 5-14mm long. Chile and Argentina, in the central cordilleras, in dry, dusty or gravelly ridge flats and earthy slopes at 1800-3200m.
