Botanical Description

Stems 10-35mm tall, slender. Leaves entire or sometimes denticulate, mostly bright, shiny green, glabrous, oblanceolate to elliptic or lanceolate, 3-10cm long. Verticillasters densely flowered but somewhat separated. Flowers light to dark blue or blue-violet, 1-1.5cm long. Colorado and Wyoming, on gravelly, rocky, wooded or brushy slopes of lower and middle elevations at 1850-3500m. Evergreen mats and numerous spikes of bright blue flowers. Among the easiest of penstemons to grow.
