Flowering stems 10-40cm tall from a distinctly woody base. Leaves densely cinereous puberulent, numerous, opposite, linear, 1.5-5cm long. Flowers blue or pink, 1.5-2.3cm long. Dry, open, rocky places in the plains and foothills, often with sagebrush. Idaho to Oregon. Closely allied to P. gairdneri. Unknown in cultivation.
