Botanical Description

Densely cinereouspuberulent throughout, becoming glandular in the inflorescence, 4-12cm tall, the stems prostrate to suberect. Leaves entire, narrow, the lower ones 1-5.5cm long. Flowers commonly with blue lobes and more purplish tube, 1.5-2.3cm long. Dry, open places at lower elevations, often with sagebrush in gravelly, alluvial soils at 1400-2000m, endemic to Idaho. Very showy but little known in cultivation.
