Stems 10-30cm tall. Leaves entire, all cauline, 2-4cm long, oblanceolate, the lower sometimes spathulate, glabrous. Flowers often aggregrated into a continuous thyrse, tending to be secund, 1.4-2cm long, deep blue or violet. Dry rocky sagebrush, Symphoricarpos, Gambel oak, or spruce-fir vegetated slopes at 2000-3000m in Idaho and Utah. Showy but little known in cultivation.
