Rootstock a tiny, round tuber. Leaves in a basal rosette on non-blooming plants, not present on flowering plants. Inflorescence a panicle on slender stems 2-25cm high, summer. Canada to Colorado near the snow line at 1500-3270m. Rare in cultivation, difficult to grow and to flower.
