Botanical Description

Leaves tufted, dark green, few to several, narrowly linearoblanceolate. Inflorescence of one to seven flowers on semi-erect to prostrate stems. Flowers 5-15mm in diameter, white to rose-pink or carmine. (A form from Arizona has distinct white-centred flowers). Alaska to Canada, Wyoming and New Mexico in various habitats except deep shade at 2745-4020m. A very variable species.
