Botanical Description

About 10cm tall, the roots barely thickened. Leaves 5-15mm wide, greyish beneath and having a white or translucent edge. Flowers 5-6cm in diameter, pale brownish-yellow to grey-green or silver-grey, the falls blade deeper purple or purple-brown, spring. Turkey, Iraq and Syria in dry foothills from 100-1650m. A range of hybrids with the similar I. galatica have been developed at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
