To 60cm or more tall. Leaves up to 30cm or more long, pinnate, the leaflets more or less pinnatifid, coarsely toothed, roughly hairy. Flowers to 2cm long, blue-purple to white, in dense head-like cymes, summer. Eastern North America, from Ohio to Alabama and Georgia, in moist woods.
