Perennial from a woody few-branched caudex, 15-30cm tall in bloom. Leaves basal, oblong-ovate, 2.5-3.5cm long, almost glabrous above, white-felted beneath, on long petioles. Flowers white to pink, solitary, but arranged in branched racemes, latish summer. Cahfornia to Colorado and New Mexico in pine-juniper woodland at 1800-2100m.
