Subshrub 10-30cm in height. Leaves oblong to elliptic, 8-20mm long, white woolly beneath, glabrous above, often revolute. Flowering stems 3-10cm long with a cymose inflorescence 2-5cm across. Flowers yellow, white or pink, summer. North-western U.S.A. and adjacent Canada, in dry stony places at 1500-3000m.
