Botanical Description

Corm globose, l-2cm in diameter. Basal leaves few to several, linear to linear-lanceolate, 5-12cm long, tapering to a stalk. Flowers eight to eighteen, on stems 10-25cm tall, each one 1.5-2cm wide, white or pink with a darker pink veining. (In C.v. forma micropetala the petals are tiny). Quebec and Ontario south to Georgia, in moist forest and scrub. The best known and easiest species to grow.
