perennial with simple or branched stems 20-50cm high. Leaves 2-3.5cm long, lanceolate, sometimes three-lobed, with crisped margins. Floral bracts three to five-lobed, scarlet-tipped. Flowers 2-3cm long, greenish with a red-tipped calyx and red-lined upper lip galea, early or late summer. Oregon, Idaho, California and Nevada, mostly above 600m and ascending to subalpine levels, often in sagebrush scrub (Artemisia tridentata).
