from a thick rootstock. Stems several to many, flexuous, fragile, decumbent to erect, to 20cm in length. Leaves rosetted, spathulate to oblanceolate, entire or crenate-serrate, somewhat leathery. Flowers 1.4-2cm in length or sometimes more, narrowly bell-shaped, pale blue with a darker medium stripe to each flared lobe. Islands of the Aegean (including Crete), in limestone crevices. Not easy to please and best in a dry wall or the alpine house.
