Botanical Description

Perennial or biennial of tufted habit with stems to 30cm in height. Leaves narrowly ovate, sinuate, crenate or dentate, grey downy beneath. Flowers in a terminal head-like cluster surrounded by a ruff of oblong bracts, 10-15m long, velvety hairy, white or palest yellow. Southern Alps, very local among limestone rocks. Very distinct, but not particularly beautiful.
