ex Murith. Tufted and colony-forming with erect wiry stems to 10cm, sometimes more, in height. Basal leaves rounded, cordate, serrate, withering before flowering. Stem leaves linearlanceolate. Flowers pendent, usually solitary but sometimes two or three together, 1.5cm long, the slighdy dared lobes pleated down the centre and with a rounded hole between the bases of each pair. South-western and southern central Alps, very local, in acidic mountain screes and rocks. Not always easy to please in cultivation. It seems to need scree or raised bed conditions with room for its slender rhizomes to colonise new territory at will. Partial shade is preferred.
