Firmly cushion to loosely mat-forming up to 10cm high by 30-60cm wide in the wild. Leaves densely overlapping, the blades 3-6mm long, deeply trifid, the lobes awl-shaped, prickly-pointed, incurved and metallically lustrous. Flowers insignificant, creamy-yellow, in pairs amongst the leaves. Southern tip of Chile, Argentina and Falkland Islands, in maorland, feldmark and heath in gravelly, rocky and peaty soils.
