Root globose, about 2.5cm in diameter. Stems 10-35cm tall. Leaves 3-13cm long, orbicular, deeply inflexed cordate and rather hairy below. Flower tube up to 5cm long, pale brownish and hairy inside. Blade 1.5-3cm long, ovate, brownish-purple, hairy, throat bright yellow with scattered black hairs having swollen bases, spring. Caucasus in deciduous forest. Distinguished from A. iberica by the rounded root and leaves.
