Height 20-48cm with one to several drooping flowers to a stem. Basal leaves bi- or triternate, leaflets trifid, glaucous, l-2cm long. Flowers 2.5-4cm wide and 2-3cm long, spurs l-2cm, straight or slightly curved, sepals purplish-blue generally but pinky-white in the Hindu Kush, petals yellowish at the tips. Himalayas from Kashmir to Tibet on open slopes or in scrub from 4000-5000m. This closely resembles A. fragans but is darker in colour. Probably requires the same conditions.
