A tufted to small clump-forming plant, grey, almost woolly-hairy throughout. Leaves erect, oblanceolate, up to 10cm long. Capitula to seven or more in a dense cluster on a stem to 20cm tall, the bracts brown to greenish-black tipped white. North-western North America at alpine and subalpine elevations.
