Botanical Description

Bulbs ovoid, of annual duration, forming on a stout rhizome or rootstock, usually in small clumps. Stems 20-30cm in height. Leaves shorter than stems, up to 8mm wide. Flowers shallowly bowl to star-shaped, rose-pink to lilac with darker to greenish midribs, many in a loose umbel, summer. Northern California to southern Oregon, Coast Ranges, in mixed evergreen and pine forests and chaparral, mainly in clay soils.
