ex Spreng. (syn. A. odorum, A. uliginosum). Bulbs cylindrical, clustered on short rhizomes and forming clumps. Stems 25-45cm tall, somewhat angled. Leaves shorter than stems, slightly keeled, up to 8mm wide. Flowers star-shaped, white, up to 7mm in diameter, fragrant, many in hemispherical umbels 3-5cm, across, late summer and autumn. India to Japan. Known as Chinese chives and an important culinary plant in China and Japan. Hardly a rock garden plant.
