Botanical Description

Loosely but toughly mat-forming, up to 40cm in diameter, the stem tips erect. Leaves imbricate and adpressed, narrowly linear and incurving, keeled, 5.5-9mm long with a basal sheath. Flowers 8-9mm wide, white (bronzy-red in Flora Patagonica). Argentinian Patagonia, up to 200m. X.l. var. contracta is condensed, forming low hummocks up to 5cm high, often with more spreading petals. Overlapping with X.l. var. lycopodioides and extending further south.
