A group name for hybrids between V. X wittrockiana and V. cornuta, best known as bedding violas or tufted pansies. They have the perennial nature and tufted habit of V. cornuta with the large rounded flowers of X wittrockiana but lacking the mask or face pattern. Many cultivars have been raised, some examples being: 'Admiration' (deep blue-purple), 'Irish Molly' (copper-yellow), 'Maggie Mott' (silvery-mauve), 'Molly Sanderson' (blackest purple), 'Norah Leigh' (lavender blue), 'Primrose Dame' (light yellow) and 'White Swan (pure white).
