Tufted to small clump-forming, 7-12cm high or more tall. Leaves rosetted, 3-6cm long and wide, deeply palmatifid on stalks 4-10cm long. Flowers l-2cm across, pale violet, fragrant, spring to early summer. European Alps, in grassland amongst rocks and screes at 1000-2000m.
