Botanical Description

In size and habit like V. beckwithii, but less hairy and with leaf segments often lanceolate. Flowers composed of three lower cream petals, with a yellow, purplish-striped eye

and two upper deep reddish-violet petals, spring to summer. California and Oregon, in forest and rocky open habitats at 300-2000m. Summer dormant in the wild.
