Carpeting evergreen shrub with rigid widely branching stems sometimes to 40cm long. Leaves broadly elliptic, 1.3-2cm long, leathery, somewhat rugose above, rich green, smooth and paler beneath. Flowers urn-shaped, 5-6mm long, light pink, in axillary racemes 2.5-5cm long, late spring to early summer. Fruits globular, 6mm across, red then black, crowned by the calyx. Central Nepal to south-eastern Tibet and Burma, usually as an epiphyte and then of pendulous habit. Allied to V. delavayi.
