Botanical Description

Stems 25-50cm tall. Leaves sessile, 10-20cm long, broadly ovate, heavily mottled. Flowers stalkless, deep purple to red-brown, the petals up to 10cm or sometimes more in length, spicily scented. Siskyou mountains on California-Oregon border and foothills of northern Sierra Nevada. A very sturdy, robust species close to T. chloropetalum.
