Stems usually under 30cm in length but sometimes more, generally somewhat sprawling to semi-erect, hairy. Leaves about the same length, hairy. Flowers 2.5cm or more across in shades of blue, purple, red or pink, early summer. South-eastern U.S.A. in open sandy forests and rock ledges.
