Botanical Description

This species is allied to T. leptotes, with similar leaves. The flowerheads are sessile or on stalks of up to 5cm. The bracts broad and roundish-tipped. Rays 12 to 30, 1-1.5cm long, white, pink or bluish. Utah, south-west Montana to West Wyoming. The form generally seen in cultivation is one of the most beautiful, with very compact small rosettes and dark purple, almost stemless, flowers. It seems to be reasonably perennial.
