Hairy stems up to 25cm high; stem leaves up to 3cm long, slightly shorter than the basal leaves. Single flowerheads at the stem tips with 3 to 4 whorls of bracts. Flowers white or pinkish; rays 15 to 30, l-2cm long. East Washington south to Utah, in dry areas of sage brush.
