Botanical Description

Loosely mat-forming, with flowering stems up to 10cm tall, each arising from a basal cluster of small leaves. Normal leaves ellipticspathulate, 8-12mm long. Flowers purple, 6-8mm

long, with purplish calyces, in rounded to shortly cylindrical spikes. Central Balkan peninsula and northern Aegean region. T.t. var. longidens has lanceolate to oblanceolate leaves usually with a reddish flush. Flowering stems up to 12cm high. Bulgaria to Turkey.
