Botanical Description

Loosely mat to low tussock-forming with flowering stems l-8cm long. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 5-8mm long, densely purple gland-dotted, revolute or almost so, puberulent to glabrous, ciliate at the base. Floral bracts similar to the leaves, but a little broader and non-revolute. Flowers purplish, 5-6mm long with purple calyces, in loose head-like spikes. Southern Spain, in the Sierra Nevada. T.s. subsp. gadorensis has light grey-green leaves with yellowish glands and pale pink flowers.
