Small clump-forming from clusters of swollen roots with slender stems to 30cm or more in height. Leaves biternate, with semi-orbicular, coarsely crenate leaflets. Flowers having white, obovate sepals 2.5-3.5mm long, several in umbels which are arranged in panicles, summer. South-eastern U.S.A. in mountain forest and shady rocks where the soil is moist.
